About Josh

Josh Daily, MD, MEd, is a pediatric cardiologist, educator, and author who helps people choose well when it matters most.

For more than a decade, Josh has worked in high-stakes medical environments where decisions carry life-altering consequences. In pediatric cardiology, uncertainty is unavoidable, stakes are high, and clarity matters. Over time, his clinical work led to a deeper question: not just what decisions people make—but how they make them. Why do intelligent, sincere people misjudge risk? How do urgency, emotion, and hidden cognitive bias quietly shape judgment?

His work brings together behavioral science, lived experience, and Christian wisdom to equip individuals and organizations with practical tools for clearer thinking under pressure.

Professional Background

Josh serves as a pediatric cardiologist and fellowship program director at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and Arkansas Children’s Hospital. He holds a master’s degree in education and has delivered more than 200 invited talks nationally on decision-making, cognitive bias, and high-stakes judgment. He has authored more than 70 peer-reviewed academic publications.

He co-directs Personal and Professional Financial Essentials for Physicians—a unique course designed to equip fourth-year medical students with the financial and decision-making skills every physician needs. His teaching focuses not only on technical knowledge, but on helping young physicians build lives marked by clarity, resilience, and long-term fulfillment.

Josh is also a regular contributor to The White Coat Investor, where he writes on the intersection of behavioral economics, career structure, and financial decision-making. His columns explore how cognitive bias and emotional distortion shape physicians’ lives—and how wiser early decisions can prevent burnout and foster lasting flourishing.

Why This Work Matters

Many of life’s most consequential decisions—career, calling, leadership, relationships—are made under pressure and with incomplete information. In a culture shaped by urgency and noise, clarity is rare.

Josh’s work explores how to recognize cognitive distortion, slow down when necessary, act decisively when appropriate, and become the kind of person capable of wise judgment over time. Rather than offering formulas or guarantees, he focuses on formation—helping individuals and organizations cultivate habits of thought that support courage, humility, and discernment.

A Personal Note

Raised in a pastor’s home and shaped by evangelical Christianity, Josh has long been interested in the intersection of faith and thoughtful decision-making. His work reflects both academic research and lived experience—including navigating seasons of uncertainty, career inflection points, and significant personal trials.

He lives in Little Rock, Arkansas, with his wife and four children. When he’s not teaching, writing, or wrangling kids, you’ll likely find him outdoors with a fly rod in hand.
